I noticed in my last cookie picture that there's a little bit of embroidery in the corner. That's because I usually always take my pictures like this:
These are my tips for photographing your food relatively nicely:
I have these nice white cloths that I embroidered for the kitchen with these cute little days of the week kitchen iron-on patterns. Since they are pretty wide and white, I fold the embroidery underneath to have the plain white part as background, put the food on a white plate so the picture isn't too cluttered looking and move it close to a window for the nice natural light.
I also find that it's easier to balance the lighting and color on the camera if the object is against a white background.
Also since this is just about the food I try to go real close up so that the food takes up most of the frame.
