The Sunday when we came back from camping, we were pretty tired of camping, cooking and unpacking. We decided to try this new-to-us burger joint, Mighty Fine burgers after having read this gluten-free information on their blog.
I was really pleased at how careful they were with our order. Both my bag and my mom's bag came labeled with our name. Well "Mom" was labeled on my mom's!
And also both were labeled very specifically "No Bun".
According to their info, their fries are gluten-free and they were some crunchy, golden beauties.
The burger itself comes fully assembled in it's little cardboard boat. It's about as non-messy as you're going to get if you eat it with a knife and fork.
However since we brought it home and had some bread left over from our camping trip, my mom and I just toasted up two slices and loaded that burger in the middle. It's a pretty generous burger too.
Definitely too small for my bread!
And yes, this is how I enjoy my fries and no other way. I love a generous amount of ketchup on the side for dipping.
They are generous with their fries too I must note. This amount pictured is about half of what the burger comes with.
A pretty satisfying burger if you ask me!
Help! My burger's too big for my bread! |
But it is an unfortunate set of circumstances that this was the only meal I had eaten that came from outside my house and it is unfortunate that I came down with colitis on the 3rd day after I ate this, which is my period for when I feel the effects of gluten contamination.
I usually get a migraine from gluten contamination but this time I woke up with a bloated and severely cramping belly, the likes of which I had never experienced and lasted quite literally all day.
I've never gotten a bout of colitis like that and I don't really know to what I can attribute it and like I mentioned, I am not blaming nor want to sound like I am blaming Mighty Fine and in all honestly I really don't feel like I could because there could be many possible unknown factors.
But I will just say that it was an unfortunate set of circumstances and timing for me and not one I want to relive any time soon.
So for me I will unfortunately have to say "pass" on Mighty Fine for now.
But if you know any gluten-eating individual who is on the hunt for a great juicy burger and crispy golden fries, I suggest pointing them here!
