Since yesterday's post I recently remembered reading an article (in a magazine I can't remember) about the need to always rinse your fruits and veggies.
You all knew that right? Of course we always wash our food before eating it!
Anyway the article also mentioned that soaking produce in a mixture of apple cider vinegar and water was actually very good at rinsing away most of that dirt and nasty pesticide.
For exact amounts and time don't look here but I use a healthy splash of apple cider vinegar and a (designated) container-full of water, wait about 20 minutes, empty it out and then give it another good rinse.
Sometimes the water comes out brown tinged and it makes you shudder at the thought of what you might've eaten.
Why apple cider vinegar as opposed to regular vinegar?
Well apple cider vinegar is harsher and more acidic than it's regular counterpart. If you remember from our Natural Hair Care series Part 2, that acidity makes it excellent at stripping away buildup.
If you really truly can't afford some or all of the recommended organic produce at least you have a way to clean the produce you can afford.
